 | What's Up: Being with my sweetheart... Relaxing with my boys and my "McCurdy kids".. Walking on the beach... Spending time with friends... Entertaining... Decorating... Travel...
My Occupation: Previously, I was the Campaign Director for the United Way in Galveston. After leaving, I was blessed in having the time to spend with my parents. My dad was very ill, my mom had become the caregiver and my goal was to provide support, insights and resources to help them find some balance in their lives. My dad died last April, but he helped me change my focus, which had always been children, to the other end of the spectrum to seniors. There are so many concerns and challenges that they face in the last chapter of their lives.
A year ago I joined the Senior Services team at the University of Texas Medical Branch here on the island. I'm the Community Education Specialist and truly love what I do.
My Family: I have two "boys" now men. Tyler (29) is in a special anti-terrorist unit for the Navy. I don't know where he is or what he's doing...I'm not suppose to.
Andrew, (23) is a senior at Texas A&M...his major is Rangeland Management...seems like a good fit.
After an almost 30 year marriage, I found the courage to go out on my own. With no interest in dating...marriage again...maybe some day, but I was so focused on making it on my own.
One of my friends told me about a new guy her husband had just hired to be the Director of Business Development for TLC (Transitional Learning Center) a post acute brain injury rehabilitation facility.
I wasn't ready, but he was persistent and boy am I glad he was. My sweetheart's name is Jim and he's completely changed my world. His kind heart and sweet spirit have blessed my life. We were married 3 years ago...very late in life, I found my soul mate.
Favorite Memories: Being with friends...laughing, talking, sharing growing up together. Of course Steve Swanson... Football...track meets... Speech meets... Back |
