Mom, Tia and Jim

What's Up:

 I recently retired...
Redirecting my time and energy to focus on caring for my elderly mother.
not having to put on my business clothes, having quiet unstructured schedules, NO MEETINGS or TRAINING and connecting with friends I really didn't have much time to be with before.

My Occupation:

In 2008 Hurricane IKE changed things for my husband, Jim, and me. We both worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. That storm didn't get much press, but it devastated the island and we both lost our jobs, along with 3,000+ others, as the University was cut off at the knees. Jim and I made a pact that whoever got offered a position first is where we'd move. As it turns out I was offered my position first with the Seton Family of Hospitals in Austin, as the Director of Volunteer Services for University Medical Center Brackenridge...the Level One Trauma Center and teaching hospital. We believe God's hand was in all of it...Jim found a position with Seton a few months later and we couldn't be happier. *(In Galveston, we lived in a historical loft on the 3rd floor, so though we lost a couple of cars etc., but our home was intact, unlike so many other folks who lost everything.)

 My Family:

Both my boys and their brides live in Galveston...they were born there and have deep ties. No grand kids yet...I'm a patient gal though. :)
I have three McCurdy kids...two of whom live in Austin. Our blended family of 5 doesn't get together often, but have fun when they do!

 Favorite Memories:

Football & basketball games...Pep Rallies...
Enjoying a cross-section of friends...
 Speech club competitions...
Breakfast at I-Hop before a game...
 Student Senate...
Visits from Tom Byington and John Marks...
 and of course Steve...
