Back | | What's Up: For the last 12 years I have been living in Aguilar, Colorado, a small town in southern Colorado, about 180 miles south of Denver. I really enjoy the small town life. It has been a great place to raise my children. I enjoy being able to have my summers off and be with family and friends. I love to hike in the mountains; they are in my back yard! I help my husband (Herman) work on antique cars as we show them during the summer months; it has been great fun to go to car shows.
My Occupation: I am a 3rd grade teacher at our elementary school in Aguilar. I have 8 students in my class for this school year. Our school is Pre-K thru 12th grade and there are 135 students all together. It has been a wonderful experience for me. What a change from 550 in our graduating class of 1965 to 6 in our small school in May.2005.
My Family: I have been blessed with 2 wonderful children. A daughter, Jennifer Gomez Stevens, age 28 and a son, Angelo Gomez, age 19. I have a wonderful husband, Herman. Jennifer was married in 1996 to Glen Stevens and they live in Raton, New Mexico (it's about a 40 minute drive from our home). In 1998 Jennifer gave birth to my wonderful grandson Dustin. It is true what they say about grandchildren - If I would have known they were so wonderful I would have had them first!! Angelo is a sophomore at CSU Pueblo where he is majoring in Criminal Justice. And last but not least my husband Herman, We enjoy our empty nest life now as we are free to do more of what we have always wanted to do - travel the summer with our 1951 Ford Crown Victoria car to antique shows. A great way to meet people and make new friends.
Favorite Memories: Some of my favorite memories: working with Vita Stillwell in the student book store; our basketball team going to State in 1963 and beating South High School by 1 point; the Drill Team dances we put on during half time; and the great Barn dances after the games. Back | | | |
