Whats Up:
I am home from work recovering from hip replacement surgery so I
have a little more time than usual and wanted to redo this bio.
In the spring of '65 I was driving my '63 green VW bug down Colfax
Ave with my BFF, Nancy O’Keefe and we saw a really cute guy in a
powder blue pickup. One thing led to another and I married him in
August. Turns out that that was about all he had going for him
(cuteness) as we divorced after about 5 years and he managed to hide
from me and our two kids from then on out. No problem though….my
mom and dad had moved back to Omaha, NE which was my birthplace and
took us in. With their help and that of husband number 3 (Number 2
was a real quickie), I got them raised up. During that time, I
worked as a waitress/bartender at our Omaha Holiday Inn. After 8
years of that I’d had enough of the bar scene and got a job in
insurance. I’ve been doing that ever since. Over 20 years in a
small family run agency and now over 12 years at an agency that
specializes in professional liability for attorneys, podiatrists,
optometrists, cpa’s, and my guys: dentists. My customers are about
1500 dentists and their offices in Nebraska and North Dakota. I
help them with their professional liability, office property
policies and workers compensation.
I divorced #3 in 1995 and finally met the right guy (#4) in a chat
room on AOL. He is my husband Bob. He is 15 years younger than me
and for a while, I didn’t want to date him thinking that it wasn’t
fair to him. But we got passed that when we discovered that we were
truly soul mates. We both love computers, gadgets of all kinds and
motorcycles. I also love to read. I read 2 or 3 books at once both
paper types and on kindle and IPad. We are active HOG (Harley
Owners Group) members. He’s been an officer every year since 2003
and is currently our web master. You can see his site and a lot of
our activities at http://evhog.net
My Occupation:
Wished to this day to have been a vet but was stuck with an
insurance career due to lack 'o' education. I love animals and have
two cats Koko and Casper. Casper is deaf....but an absolute sweety.
Bob and I want to get a pug when I retire (hopefully in 2 years).
My Family:
My daughter, Cathryn Todd is a pharm D (doctor of pharmacy) at
University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. She works in ICU. Her
partner, is another gal pharmacist Robin. She has never wanted any
kids. My son, Wayne Harshbarger, died of an accidental overdose in
2003. His son, David is married, lives here in Omaha and has my
(good grief) great-grandaughter, Annabelle Mae, age 7 months. They
are also expecting a son next January so I'll have 2
great-grandchildren.
Favorite Memories:
Favorite times were spent with BFF, Nancy O'Keefe. Sadly she has
disappeared off the radar so I've not had any contact with her.
Also remember great times with guy friends, Gregg Marshall, Joe
Falsetta and Glen Johnson. Joe was in the '64 class and I've
e-mailed him some a few years back. Hope he is still doing okay.
I had a 63 pea green VW which I loved to get into trouble in with
Nancy. I remember Joe's yellow T-Bird. Madras shirts and beach boy
music as a lot of you have mentioned. Also friends with Shirley
Shirley who stood up at my wedding in 65. Shirley you look fab in
your pics on the site here.
