What's Up:
In spite of everything YES!.  Yes to living, growing and becoming the best that I can be. Life is great in spite of obstacles that have become stepping stones to new and exciting opportunities. My life is not what I imagined it to be like at this age. It is different in so many ways. I am very involved with my work as an elementary visual arts teacher at Swansea Elementary School in Denver. With 770 children to teach I am at times more than overwhelmed. The children are beautiful. They are mostly Spanish speaking. That is a challenge too! This is my tenth year teaching in DPS.  That doesn't leave time for much more.

My Occupation:
However, two years ago I decided I needed something more positive - more fun - in my life.  My prayers were answered.  I was invited to go to a breakfast. So I went. I couldn't help noticing how happy everyone was - how positive they were. I decided I wanted some of that too. So, I become a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. Truly, my involvement with MK has totally changed my life - my thinking.  What an organization! What a growth opportunity!  MK is so much more than pink Cadillacs and cosmetics.  Yes, mine is on order! Ha, Ha, Ha.  MK is so positive as it fosters big dreams, ideas, and possibilities. I'd love to tell you more!  As, a result, I have created my Dream Express workshop for anyone and everyone interested in developing and clarifying their dream purpose. Yes, it is creative and fun! I've been told that "the best is yet to be". I can't wait to see the dreams come true.

I love going for long walks with our dog, Ebony, exercising at 24 Hour Fitness, working on wonderful art projects, doing Yoga, gardening, learning, changing, and growing. That's about it. What more could I ask.

My Family:
My husband, Lynden is a CPA in private practice. We have been married for 28 years. Our children are Nicole, age 22, and Gus, age 18.  With her B.A. in Art History from CSU, Nicole has moved to Laguna Beach, California where she continues her career as an art consultant at the Village Gallery. Gus is a freshman at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.  He plans to study visual arts and transportation design.  So, my husband and I are almost "empty nesters."   What will we do with all the extra time on our hands?

Favorite Memories:
My favorite high school memories include the amazing eight week trip to Europe with Mr. Mahaffy, Mr. Ross and Mrs. Hartenstein. We got to see so much and do so many things. Mr. Mahaffy's introduction to the French Impressionists, the Expressionists and Mont St. Michelle was an amazing gift. I loved playing in the orchestra.  What an opportunity Mr. Wallace gave us to play Beethoven, Back, Hayden, and others; In addition, playing in the pit orchestra for "South Pacific" and "The King and I" was a thrill. Of course there was Pep Club and the football and basketball games. Miss Christensen's Speech Class gave us opportunities to debate, to argue and speak in public. Do you remember traveling to all those speech tournaments and eating donuts from Henderson’s on 26th and Kipling. And who could forget Mr. Ellis and his timelines; Mr. Manis' poetry unit; Mr. Blanton's diamonds. And, Mr. Alden, told me that I had to learn to stay within the lines and the boxes.  I still have trouble with that. The teachers at Wheat Ridge High School provided such a strong foundation for life long learning.  I will be eternally grateful. THANK YOU.

I also remember the day President Kennedy was shot, the Cuban Missile Crises, the Cold War, and Viet Nam. We didn't know then that our generation would live on the frontier of women's lib, civil rights, War on Poverty, desegregation, computers, the New Age. Just think of all the changes we have been part of.
"Thanks for the memories!"
