Right now I am taking a digital photography class at Rice University
here in Houston to learn how to take better pictures of my three
adorable grandsons. I am planning a family reunion in Baton Rouge,
LA for April 14 and a surprise 65th birthday party for my husband in
July at Sweetwater Country Club. We are headed to Pebble Beach, CA
in May for a business/pleasure trip that my husband has there. I
just got back from Tucson, Arizona a couple of weeks ago where I go
every year to attend the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, which is one of
my all time favorite things to do in the world. We shop and buy
jewelry all day and then go to Tucson’s fabulous restaurants at
night and drink a little wine and eat good food.
My Occupation:
I have been at the same law firm for almost 18 years working for
lawyers (it is the law firm John Connally who was Governor of Texas
used to be a partner at). I am certified as a paralegal,
professional legal secretary and in Texas Civil Litigation law. I
went to college a couple of years when I was young here in Texas and
then quit to work for Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant, having
been based in New York City and Atlanta, GA.
My Family:
I got divorced in 1980 after being married six years which saved my
life, as I had the wherewithall to seek counseling and finally for
the first time in my life, got my head on straight. After that,
life became a ball and I learned to let loose and know the meaning
of fun and enjoying the moment. My world crashed around me though
in 1987 when my sister Libby, who I had always looked up to, died of
heart failure at 41. Needless to say, that changed my whole life.
I got remarried in 1993 to a kind, loving and supportive man. Both
of my parents died 2 weeks apart in 1997, the year I turned 50. I
have one son who will be 30 this year and 3 young grandsons who I
adore.
Favorite Memories:
Going to drive-in movies, ordering highland flings and French fries
at the Scotchman Drive-in. Driving from Applewood Mesa to Golden in
my Mom’s 1962 Chevrolet Impala and smoking cigarettes. Spending the
night with Pat Ferguson, riding in Laurel Betz’s Mother’s
convertible and Sue Coulter trying to teach me to drive a column
shift car. Being in art class with Mr. Wetherbee when President
Kennedy was shot.
